Photography in Matlock, Derbyshire

Matlock’s straight up the A6 from me in Belper, and most businesses there sell to visitors as much as locals, so your photos are the first thing anybody sees of you. I’ll shoot the food and the rooms where they are, and plan it round the light, because up there it makes all the difference.

Who does business photography in Matlock?

North Bear Media, run by Norton Hunt from Belper, down the A6. He photographs Matlock businesses on site, often ones selling to Dales visitors as well as locals. Found & Filmed includes a filming day every quarter at £995 a month, or a one-off shoot before the season is scoped as a project. Most start with the £295 Marketing MOT.

In Matlock you’re photographing for the locals and the visitors at the same time.

Businesses there serve the people who live there and the people heading out into the Dales and the Peak District, and both decide a lot from photos.

Somebody checking your opening times on their phone halfway up a hill, or planning a weekend from two counties away, has only your website and your Google listing to go on. If the photos are old or dark, that’s what they think you’re like. I’ll change that.

The light and the time of year change everything round there, so I plan the day round both instead of turning up whenever there’s a gap. A shop on Crown Square or somewhere down in Matlock Bath, I’ll come to you and work round the busy bits.

Ginger Butchers, the farm shop and butchers, have a shop in Matlock, and the deli photo further down is one I took for them. It’s a filled roll on the counter, and that’s exactly what people want to see before they go in.

One shoot before the busy months, or one every quarter.

If you want things looking right before the season starts, that’s a one-off shoot, priced as a project once I know what you need.

Found & Filmed is the other way. It’s £995 a month and I come out for a filming day each quarter, so with four a year the photos keep up with the seasons, instead of it still being summer on your website in December. Then I edit them and the posting’s done for you. You’ve got a business to run, so leave this with me.

It covers getting found on Google and in AI search, which matters when people are planning a trip, and there’s a report and a call every month. It’s rolling monthly with 30 days’ notice on either side, so if it’s not working you stop.

Not sure yet? Start with the MOT. It’s £295 and it’s back within 48 hours, so you’ll have it well before you need to decide anything.

Some recent shoots, with the food and the places first.

The Ginger Butchers deli’s in here, and a care home’s gardens, because food and places are what Dales businesses need first.

How a shoot in Matlock usually goes.

The time of year shapes it, but this is how it runs.

  1. 01 //

    When, first

We work out when, because a terrace or a garden looks very different in March to how it does in July.

  2. 02 //

    What for

Then what the photos are for, the website or your booking pages, and a shot list from that.

  3. 03 //

    The day

I come up the A6 with the kit, and we do the inside shots at a quiet time of day, before you open if that’s easier.

  4. 04 //

    After

Retouched photos in high resolution, sized for the web and for print.

Client view

“… the insight he brings, especially around social media engagement, is second to none.”

Common questions about photography in Matlock.

How much does business photography cost in Matlock?

A one-off shoot in Matlock is priced as a project, once I know what the photos are for and where they’ll be seen. If you want the photos to change with the seasons, Found & Filmed is £995 a month with a filming day on site every quarter, far cheaper than a hire and I bring all the kit. The Marketing MOT is £295.

What do I get after the shoot?

Edited and retouched photos in high resolution, ready for the website and your booking pages, with full commercial usage rights included.

Where do shoots take place?

At your premises in Matlock or on location in the Dales, and I’ll arrange studio space if a job needs it. I bring the lighting and set it up round you.

How long does a typical shoot take?

Most business shoots take one to three hours. You’ll have the timings beforehand, so you can plan service or opening hours round it.

Can I use the photos commercially?

Yes. Every photo comes with full commercial usage rights, so they can go on your website and booking listings as well as in print.

P200// OVER TO YOU

When somebody planning a trip to Matlock searches for what you do, does your business come up, and do the photos show what it’s actually like?

That’s one of the things the MOT checks, on Google and in ChatGPT, for £295. Or book a call if you’d rather talk about a shoot first.
