AI and automation in Derbyshire. For the jobs that should run themselves.
I find the jobs in your business that come round every week and eat the week, then I set up AI tools or a simple automation to take them on. Often it isn’t even AI that’s needed, it’s two systems talking to each other properly. Either way, I sort it.

Who can help a small business in Derbyshire set up AI tools?
North Bear Media can. It’s run by Norton Hunt in Belper, Derbyshire, and sets up AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude, and automations that connect the systems a business already uses, for businesses across the county. Each job is a project, scoped and priced first, and the £295 Marketing MOT is the usual place to start.
Everyone’s talking about AI, and the admin’s still being done by hand.
Most businesses I talk to don’t need a robot. They need the jobs that come round every week to stop taking up the whole week.
It’s the same enquiry answered for the tenth time, or details copied out of an email into a spreadsheet and then into another system. The same information typed in twice. That’s the first thing I fix.
Often somebody’s signed up for ChatGPT, used it a few times and gone back to the old way, because nobody had time to work out where it would help. You’ve got a business to run. Working that out is my job, so let me do it.
- SAME QUESTION //Answered by hand, again
- DATA //Typed in twice
- AI TOOLS //Signed up for, barely used
- WHO OWNS IT //Nobody
Client view
“Honest advice, amazing results and no unnecessary upselling.”
The jobs I hand over first.
The useful work is ordinary: jobs that follow a pattern and come round every week. These are the ones I hand over first.
- 01Enquiries and repliesEvery enquiry lands in one place and gets a quick acknowledgement, and AI drafts the reply in your tone of voice for somebody to check before it goes.
- 02Quotes and paperworkNotes turned into a draft quote, and order details lifted out of emails and into your system, so nobody’s retyping them. It summarises long documents too, so you see what matters without reading the whole thing.
- 03Bookings and remindersConfirmations and reminders that send themselves on schedule, instead of waiting for somebody to remember.
- 04Content draftsFirst drafts of posts and emails started with AI in your tone of voice, then a person edits them before anything goes out.
- 05Reports and figuresThe numbers you look at every month pulled together from the systems you already use, not built by hand in a spreadsheet.
- 06Stock and data feedsTwo systems kept in step automatically, like Steadplan’s AutoTrader stock feed, which now updates their website by itself.
A stock feed that only worked when somebody pressed a button.
Steadplan are a commercial vehicle dealer in Nelson, Lancashire. People browse the vans online long before they ring, so the website has to show exactly what’s for sale.
Another agency built the site, and when I took it over in September 2026 it hadn’t pulled any stock from AutoTrader since 2 July. The old connection only did a full update when somebody pressed a button in the website admin, and AutoTrader had eventually switched it off because nobody was using it. Vans for sale on AutoTrader weren’t on the website, and nothing on the site told anybody.
There was no quick fix, so I set up a new AutoTrader integration with North Bear as the technical partner. That meant applying to AutoTrader, then building it and testing it in their test environment until it passed their go-live checks. It added no new fees to Steadplan’s AutoTrader account, took three weeks, and went live on 1 October 2026.
Now the website picks up whatever they change on AutoTrader by itself. No AI in that one, just a proper connection between the two, built and fixed.

So how does it actually get set up?
Like this, adjusted to fit the job.
- 01 //
Where the hours go
I start with how the business runs, at yours or on a call: which jobs repeat and where things get copied by hand. Then we agree which ones to automate first and which to leave alone, because some are better left.
- 02 //
The right tool
I pick whatever fits the job, not whatever’s in the news. It might be ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft Copilot, Zapier or Make, or a direct connection between two systems. I set it up with your information and your tone of voice, and I get that right before it goes live.
- 03 //
Showing your team
I connect it to the systems you already use and show your team how to use it, hands-on and in plain English. Anything that goes to a customer waits for a person to check it first.
Client view
“He is approachable, really took the time to listen to what I wanted and quickly grasped my Company’s approach, ethos and target client group.”
So how would you actually buy this from me?
It’s a project. I find out what the job is, and you have a price from me before I start on anything.
I’ll tell you straight whether the job needs AI or a simple automation, and sometimes it needs no software at all, just a better way of doing it. That’s a perfectly good answer too, and it costs you less.
If you want something monthly, there’s Found & Filmed at £995 a month, rolling monthly with 30 days’ notice either way, so if it’s not working you stop. That’s about being found on Google and in AI search like ChatGPT, with a filming day at yours each quarter. Setting up AI tools inside your business isn’t part of it, so that stays its own project.
If you’re not sure where to start, the MOT is £295, and the first of its six checks is whether ChatGPT and the other AI assistants name you when somebody asks for what you do. It’s a different type of AI to this page, but it’s the quickest way to see where you stand.

- AI SET-UPS //A project, priced first
- MONTHLY //Found & Filmed, £995, AI set-ups not included

What AI and automation plug into.
These are the other things I do that sit alongside it, each with its own page.
- 01Strategy & PlanningWorking out which jobs are worth automating starts with knowing what the marketing is for.
- 02Websites & SEOEnquiry forms and stock feeds start with the website, so that’s where I look first.
- 03AI search visibilityWhether ChatGPT and the other assistants know you exist, which sits with the SEO work.
- 04Social & ContentAI speeds up a first draft, and a person decides what goes out.
- 05Email & CampaignsFollow-ups and reminders that send themselves, written so they still sound like you.
- 06Brand & DesignSo anything you make quicker still looks like your business.
- 07Photography & VideoReal photos of your people and your premises, which no AI tool can take for you.
- 08Found & FilmedThe monthly one, being found on Google and in AI search, with a filming day on site each quarter.
- 09Marketing in DerbyshireHow the MOT and Found & Filmed work for businesses across the county.
The admin is different from one end of the county to the other.
It comes down to what the business does and who it deals with, and that changes round the county.
A manufacturer or a trades firm on the A38 round Alfreton loses its hours to quotes and chasing follow-ups. A business in Matlock or Cromford looking after visitors to the Dales gets the same questions about opening times and parking over and over, often after it’s shut for the day.
In Derby, from Pride Park to the Cathedral Quarter, people expect a quick reply. In Duffield, where a lot of the work comes by recommendation, how you reply matters as much as how quickly. For the makers and independents in Wirksworth it’s the orders and the invoices, which nobody enjoys.
So I start with whatever your business repeats, not a standard AI package. I’m in Belper, so the first conversation is at yours, where you can show me where the time goes, and most of the setting up is done remotely after that. It costs far less than taking on a member of staff, and there’s nobody to train.

- SET-UP //Mostly remote after that

Common questions about AI in Derbyshire.
What is AI implementation, in plain English?
AI implementation means finding the jobs in your business where AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude, or a simple automation, will save time, then setting them up to work with the systems you already use. Showing your team how to use it is part of the job.
How much does AI implementation cost in Derbyshire?
AI and automation set-ups are priced as a project, once I know what’s being automated and how many systems it touches, so there’s no price list on here. The two things I sell at a fixed price are the Marketing MOT at £295 and Found & Filmed at £995 a month.
Do you offer AI consulting in Derbyshire?
Yes, though I call it working out where AI will help, not consulting. I’m in Belper, so we sit down at yours or on a call and look at where the hours go, then I tell you which jobs are worth handing over and which are best left alone.
What AI tools would you use for a small business?
ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Zapier and Make, plus custom AI assistants and direct connections between systems where the job needs them. I start with the tools you already pay for, not whatever’s in the news that month.
How can AI help my business?
AI and automation take on the jobs that repeat and follow a pattern: drafting replies to enquiries, first drafts of posts and articles, data entry, pulling information out of documents, booking confirmations and reminders, chasing follow-ups and putting reports together. Anything that goes to a customer can wait for a person to check it first.
Is process automation the same as AI?
No, they’re different things that often work together. Process automation moves a job from one step to the next without anybody pushing it, like Steadplan’s website updating itself from AutoTrader. AI comes in when a step needs reading or writing, like drafting a reply. Some jobs need both, and some need a better process.
Is AI worth it for a smaller business?
Yes, when it starts from a specific problem. Trades, shops, professional services and manufacturers all have repetitive jobs that follow a pattern. Where it goes wrong is buying the tools first and then looking for something to use them on, so I always start with the job.
Will AI replace our staff?
No, that’s not what it’s for. It takes the repetitive parts of the job off your people, so they spend more of their time on the work that needs a person, like customers and quotes.
Do we need technical knowledge?
No. I do the technical set-up and explain it in plain English, so you don’t need to learn anything you don’t want to.
Will you train our team?
Yes, showing your team how to use what’s been set up is part of the job. I do it hands-on and in plain English, until they’re happy using it.
How long does it take, and when will we see time saved?
That comes down to the job. Steadplan’s AutoTrader connection took three weeks, because it had to be built and tested in AutoTrader’s test environment and pass their go-live checks first, while a simple automation between tools you already use has far fewer steps. I start with the jobs that take the most time, so savings show up early, and I give you a realistic timeline when I scope it.
Can we start small?
Yes, and it’s the sensible way to do it: one or two jobs where the time goes, then a look at what they’ve saved before deciding what’s next. There’s no need to change everything at once.
Where in Derbyshire do you work?
I’m based in Belper and work with businesses across the county, including Derby, Matlock, Ripley, Alfreton, Ilkeston, Duffield and Wirksworth, and across the East Midlands. The first conversation is at your premises, where it’s easier to see where the hours go, and most of the set-up is done remotely after that.
More on AI, if you’d like to read up first.
Plain-English guides I’ve written for owners who want to know what’s worth trying before anything gets set up.
Some recent work.

When somebody in Derbyshire asks ChatGPT for what you do, does it actually mention you?
That’s the first of the six checks in the £295 MOT, and you get two of your competitors put through the same checks next to you. Or if it’s the jobs you want handed over, book a call.
