Email marketing in Derbyshire. Planned, written and actually sent.

Newsletters, event invites and client emails, written in your voice and sent when they’re meant to be, not the week after. That’s when most of them go out. With me, they go out on time.

Who can run email marketing for a small business in Derbyshire?

North Bear Media, a studio in Belper run by Norton Hunt, writes and sends newsletters and client emails for businesses across Derbyshire, on Mailchimp or whatever platform the business already uses. Each email campaign is a project, scoped and priced first, and the £295 Marketing MOT is the usual place to start.

That email still hasn’t gone.

Most owners I speak to know they should be emailing their customers more. It never gets to the top of the list, because you’ve got a business to run.

The customer list is split between the accounts software and a spreadsheet nobody’s opened since last year, and the newsletter went out twice and then stopped.

Meanwhile the people most likely to buy from you again, the customers you’ve already got, are hearing more from your competitors than from you.

Nobody’s been given it as their job, so it drifts. Give it to me and it gets done.

How I run your emails.

This is how it goes, adjusted to what you’re sending.

  1. 01 //

    Who it’s for

I start with who you’re writing to and what’s worth telling them: the customers you’ve already got, and the dates and deadlines that matter to them.

  2. 02 //

    Writing it

I write the emails and design them to match the rest of your marketing, and if an email needs something behind it, a registration form or a page on your website, I build that too.

  3. 03 //

    Sending it

I set up and manage the send, on Mailchimp or whatever you already use, with the list you give me.

  4. 04 //

    Seeing what happened

Afterwards I look at what people did once it arrived: who clicked, who registered, who booked. I treat open rates with caution, because some email apps open messages automatically now, which makes them look better than they are.

What the email work looks like in practice.

Willis Cooper are chartered accountants in Belper, going since 2000, and alongside their website and social media I look after the emails to their clients. Worth knowing: Willis Cooper are also my accountants, so I’m telling you up front and you can weigh it up.

So how do you buy email marketing from me?

Email is a project for me. Whether it’s a launch or a run of newsletters, I find out what it’s for first, then I price it up for you.

An email works far better with something behind it: a page to register on and a few posts reminding people it’s coming. I plan those in with it, so the email never goes out on its own.

Found & Filmed is my retainer, £995 a month, rolling monthly with 30 days’ notice either way, so if it’s not working you stop. It’s for being found on Google and in AI search, with me coming out to film at yours each quarter. Email campaigns aren’t in it, so they stay their own project.

If you’re not sure email is where to start, the £295 MOT is the better first step. It comes back with the three things I’d fix first, in order.

A couple of remote specialists help me with some of the marketing. It still costs far less than a hire: no salary, no training, no kit to buy.

Marketing across Derbyshire.

Email is one part of what I do for businesses round the county, and these local pages go into more detail.

Common questions about email marketing in Derbyshire.

What does email marketing with North Bear include?

Planning what to send and when, writing and designing the emails, managing the send, and building anything that goes with them, like a registration form or a page on your website. Then I look at what people did after it arrived.

Which email platform do you use?

Whatever suits the business. Willis Cooper’s client emails go out through Mailchimp, and if you’ve already got a platform that does the job, I start with that instead of moving you for the sake of it.

How often should we email our customers?

As often as you’ve got something worth telling them, which for most businesses isn’t every week. For some that’s a regular newsletter, and for others it’s a handful of well-timed emails a year around deadlines and events. We agree how often when I scope it.

How do you measure whether email marketing is working?

By what people do after the email arrives: clicks, replies, registrations, bookings and enquiries. I treat open rates with caution, because some email apps open messages automatically to protect people’s privacy, which makes the numbers look better than they are.

Can we email our customers without breaking GDPR?

Yes, when it’s done properly. Marketing emails in the UK are covered by UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the rules are different for emailing individuals and emailing companies. The main thing is knowing where every address on your list came from, and whether those people would reasonably expect to hear from you. Every marketing email needs an easy way to unsubscribe as well. For anything unusual, the ICO’s guidance or your own adviser has the final word.

How much does email marketing cost?

Email marketing is priced as a project, so you get a price once I know what’s being sent and how often. If you want a fixed-price place to start, the Marketing MOT is £295, and Found & Filmed, at £995 a month, doesn’t include email campaigns.

Can we buy email marketing on its own?

Yes, email campaigns are always a project on their own, a launch or an event, scoped and priced before anything starts. I plan the page and the posts that go with it as part of the same job.

Where in Derbyshire do you work?

I work with businesses across Derbyshire from Belper, including Derby, Ripley, Alfreton, Matlock and Ilkeston, and across the East Midlands. Most email work is done remotely anyway, so a planning meeting can be a call if that suits you.

P200// OVER TO YOU

If one of your customers in Derbyshire went looking for what you do again, would they find you, or somebody who’s been emailing them?

Start with the £295 MOT. It shows you where you come up on Google and in ChatGPT before you spend anything else on your marketing. Or if you’ve got an email that needs sending, book a call and I’ll get it out.
