Graphic design & branding in Derbyshire. One look, everywhere you show up.

Logos, brand identities, print, signage and social templates for businesses all over Derbyshire. Most of the time the van and the website look like two different businesses. I’ll fix that, so everything with your name on it looks like one firm you’d trust.

Where can I get graphic design and branding done in Derbyshire?

North Bear Media in Belper does graphic design and branding for businesses across Derbyshire. Norton Hunt, who has done graphic design since his live events days, designs logos, brand identities, print, signage and social templates and keeps them consistent everywhere. Design is a project, priced before work starts, and the £295 Marketing MOT is the usual first step.

The logo got done, and then everybody did their own thing with it.

Nobody chooses to look inconsistent. It happens one rushed job at a time, because keeping the brand right isn’t anybody’s job. I’ll make it mine.

The leaflets got laid out by the printer, and the pull-up banner was done by somebody who’s since left. Now there’s three versions of the logo going round, and a sign over the door that doesn’t match any of them.

Customers notice, even if they couldn’t tell you why. A business that’s better than its competitors ends up looking smaller than them. That’s a fixable problem, and fixing it is my job.

Client view

“I needed a Company Logo designed and a Company Website built for my new Property Company, Industrial Warehaus Property Group Limited. … Within 10 days of having my 1st Teams Call with Norton explaining my Company Concept, he designed a Logo… and built a Website (iwpg.co.uk) for Industrial Warehaus Property Group. Norton totally understood the remit and he absolutely nailed it! Extremely pleased with the Logo that Norton designed and the Website that he built!”

How I’d go about your branding.

Here’s how it runs, whether it’s a new brand or one that needs pulling back into shape.

  1. 01 //

    A proper conversation

I start with the business, not the logo: who buys from you and where the brand gets seen, from the sign over the door to a post on somebody’s phone. It’s a conversation at yours or on a call, not a questionnaire.

  2. 02 //

    Some real options

You see a few real options rather than one design and take it or leave it, and we go with whichever looks most like your business.

  3. 03 //

    The files

You get every file you’ll need, including the source files, and a short guide to using them, so nobody chases anybody for the logo again. I deal with your printer directly too, so what comes back looks how it was designed.

  4. 04 //

    Keeping it consistent

A brand works when it’s used the same way every time. So I set up templates you can reuse, and anything new I make for you is built to match.

Everything the brand has to work on.

This is the design I do for businesses round Derbyshire, on screen and in print.

  • 01Logo designA mark that works on a van or a shop front, not just on the screen it was drawn on.
  • 02Brand identitiesYour logo in every format, a colour palette, chosen fonts, brand guidelines and templates, so anybody making something for the business gets it right.
  • 03Print and marketing materialsBusiness cards, letterheads, leaflets, flyers, brochures, menus and price lists, set up properly for the printer.
  • 04Signage and vehiclesShop fronts, A-boards, pull-up banners, exhibition stands, van wraps and vehicle graphics.
  • 05Social and digital graphicsSocial post templates, email headers, web graphics and adverts that match the rest of the brand.
  • 06Packaging and point of saleLabels and packaging, and the point-of-sale material for shops and food producers.

So how would you buy design from me?

A new logo and pulling a drifted brand back together are different jobs, so I treat it as a project and price it once I know which one you need.

A new logo’s a good start, but it’s everything that carries it that makes it pay: the website, the photos, the signs and the leaflets. When different people do those at different times, it drifts again. You’ve got a business to run, so let me keep it all in line.

My monthly service is Found & Filmed at £995 a month, rolling with 30 days’ notice either way, so if it’s not working you stop. It covers being found and the filming, not design, so a new logo is still its own project.

If you’re not sure the branding’s the problem, start with the £295 MOT. If the logo’s fine and something else needs fixing first, it’ll show you, and then you know exactly where to spend.

Graphic design for a county of very different towns.

A business in the Dales and one on an estate off the A38 shouldn’t look the same, and I design them so they don’t.

In the market towns a business gets judged on its shop front and the A-board outside as much as on its website. That’s as true on King Street and Bridge Street in Belper as it is on Town Street in Duffield, at Ilkeston Market or on Nottingham Road in Eastwood, just over the border.

Along the A38, the trades and B2B firms round Alfreton and Ripley need a brand that reads clearly on a van and a sign, and looks credible to a buyer checking them out before giving them the work. Heanor’s the same. In Derby there’s more competition, whether you’re on Sadler Gate, out at Pride Park or in the Cathedral Quarter, so a brand has to hold up next to the next name on the list.

In Matlock, Wirksworth, Cromford and Crich, and across the Dales, a lot of businesses sell to visitors as well as locals. The setting’s part of the appeal, from Cromford Mill to the Tramway Village at Crich, and the brand has to work on a label and on a phone screen for somebody planning a trip from two counties away.

Belper sits in the middle of it all, on the A6 between Derby and Matlock, so a first meeting at your place is a short drive. I see how the business looks to a customer before I design anything, the sign, the van and the counter.

Event countdowns for Richford, anniversary and trust posts for Smartmove, product specials for Ginger Butchers and payroll explainers for Willis Cooper. Each one built to the client’s own look, so everything they put out looks like it’s come from the same business.

Common questions about graphic design in Derbyshire.

How much does graphic design cost in Derbyshire?

Graphic design is priced as a project, and the cost comes down to whether it’s a logo on its own or a full brand identity with guidelines and templates. It’s still cheaper than hiring a designer, with no salary, no training and no software to buy. For fixed prices, the MOT is £295 and Found & Filmed is £995 a month, without design.

What graphic design and branding support do you offer?

Logos and full brand identities, print like business cards, leaflets, brochures, menus and price lists, signage and vehicle graphics, social templates and adverts, and packaging and point-of-sale material. If it carries your name, I design it.

Do we need a full brand identity or just a logo?

A logo on its own doesn’t stop the colours and fonts drifting every time somebody makes something new. A brand identity gives you the logo in every format, a colour palette, chosen fonts, guidelines and templates. I’ll look at where the business is and tell you straight which one you need.

Can you refresh our existing branding rather than start again?

Yes, and plenty of businesses don’t need a new logo, they need the one they’ve got used properly. Sometimes that’s a light refresh, and sometimes it’s pulling three versions of the logo back into one and setting up templates so it stays that way.

What files do we get, and can you deal with our printer?

You get print-ready files in the right formats and colour profiles, web and social versions, the original source files and a guide to using them, so you never chase anybody for your own logo. I deal with your printer directly as well.

How long does a logo or branding project take?

That comes down to the size of the job and how quickly decisions get made. As one example, Nicholas Westray of Industrial Warehaus Property Group says in his Google review that his logo and website were done within 10 days of his first Teams call with me. A full brand identity covers more ground, and you get clear timings once I’ve scoped it.

Do we need a monthly package to get design work?

No, design is always a project on its own, scoped and priced first. Found & Filmed is my standard monthly package, and it doesn’t include design.

Do you do small business branding in Nottinghamshire as well?

Yes, I do branding for small businesses in Nottinghamshire as well as Derbyshire, including Eastwood, just over the border. A first conversation can be at your premises or on a call, whichever suits you.

Do you do personal branding and branding photography in Derbyshire?

Yes. For sole traders and people whose business is them, the answer is a simple brand plus proper photos of you instead of stock ones. I do the photography myself, like the team portraits I took for Willis Cooper in Belper.

Where in Derbyshire do you work?

I’m in Belper and do design for businesses all over the county, including Derby, Matlock, Ilkeston, Ripley, Heanor, Alfreton, Duffield, Wirksworth and Allestree, and across the East Midlands. I come out and see the business in person first, or we do a call if that suits you better.

P200// OVER TO YOU

When somebody in Derbyshire sees your van and looks you up, do they actually find you, and does it look like the same business?

The MOT checks your website and your social, among other things, and puts two of your competitors through the same checks, so you see exactly how you come across next to them. Or if you’ve got a brand that needs sorting, book a call.
