Belper and Derbyshire have several genuinely good web designers - the right one depends on what you need. Below: the established local names, what each positions itself for, and honest questions to ask any of us (including me - I'm on this list, and I say so).
Let's get the obvious out of the way first: I run North Bear Media, a web design studio in Belper, and I appear on this list. You should treat my inclusion with exactly the scepticism that deserves. But nobody else has written an honest local comparison, people keep asking, and I would rather you choose well - even if that means choosing someone else. Everything below about other designers comes from their own websites and public positioning; check each one yourself.
Andrew Burdett Design
By their own account the longest-established website design company in the Belper area, building websites since 1999 with hundreds of sites delivered across Derbyshire and the UK. Worth a look if: a decades-long track record is what reassures you most.
Foxxweb Design
Website and graphic designers with over 15 years' experience (their words), focused on small and medium businesses across central Derbyshire, with an emphasis on sites that rank well on Google. Worth a look if: you want an established local generalist for a straightforward small-business site.
StudioRav
Markets itself for web design in Belper and specialises in WordPress and Shopify - e-commerce, custom coding and ongoing website management. Worth knowing: the company itself is based in the West Midlands and serves Belper through a local landing page, so ask my question one below. Worth a look if: you specifically want a WordPress or Shopify build, which is not something I do.
Ashby Digital
Positions itself around performance-first website development for Belper businesses - lead generation, measurable sales opportunities, and a structured build process with search optimisation and conversion tracking from day one. Worth a look if: you think in numbers and want the pitch framed the same way.
Midas Creative
An award-winning agency (their description) creating affordable websites for local companies and organisations in and around Belper. Worth a look if: budget is the deciding factor and you want a nearby studio - they describe themselves as Mansfield-based with easy access to Belper.

A broad local provider - brochure sites, CMS and e-commerce, plus hosting, SEO, Google Business Profile and email - and, per its own site, highly rated on Google and the Derbyshire County Council Trusted Trader platform. Worth a look if: you want everything from one supplier in a package.
North Bear Media (that's me)
One person, based in Belper. I hand-code custom websites - no WordPress, no page builders - typically £500 to £3,500 one-off plus £35/month for hosting and upkeep, with copywriting included and the SEO foundations built in. Rated 5.0 from 21 Google reviews, and every site on my case studies page is live for you to judge. Worth a look if: you want to deal directly with the person building your site, and you want it built by hand. How to choose between us
Whoever you talk to - including me - ask these five questions:
1. Who actually builds my site? The person selling, or someone you'll never meet?
2. What's the total cost over two years? Build plus hosting plus every "extra".
3. Can I see live sites you've built? Not mock-ups - working websites with real businesses behind them.
4. What happens if I leave? Do you own your domain, content and site?
5. What do your Google reviews say? Recent ones, from named local businesses.
The bottom line
Belper is lucky - for a town this size, the web design options are genuinely decent. If you want established longevity, look at Andrew Burdett or Foxxweb. If you want WordPress or Shopify, StudioRav. If you want a numbers-first pitch, Ashby Digital. And if you want a hand-coded site from the person who'll answer the phone afterwards, that's what I do.
