The first full week feelings.
A bit of a blog to sum up the first full week running North Bear Media.

Starting my first full week in business, I was feeling a mix of apprehension and worry. I kept wondering if I’d be good enough and if I’d get enough work to support my family. It was a bit of a lonely place at times.
This week’s been a whirlwind of new business meetings and travelling all over the place. I’ve gone from having no schedule for the past five months to having a jam-packed diary. It’s been a huge adjustment, but an exciting one.
One of the biggest challenges has been getting my pricing right. I don’t want to overcharge anyone—I want to make sure they’re getting value for money—but I also need to make sure I’m not leaving myself short.
My wife has been amazing. She’s taken over everything with the kids and the house without a single grumble. And every day, the kids ask me how my day was with such excitement, which is just brilliant.
There have been some real highlights this week too. I might have three or four new clients lined up, and I’ve started working with a big new client in a completely new industry for me. It’s been a steep learning curve, but really rewarding.
Balance? What balance? I’ve been working 18-hour days every day this week. But when it’s your own business, it doesn’t feel like work—it’s just what needs to be done.
I’ve been blown away by the support from friends, family, and ex-colleagues. The messages, calls, and shares wishing me well and connecting me to potential new business have been incredibly humbling. It’s shown me I’m not alone in this.
Going forward, I need to get into a rhythm with my new clients, make sure they’re happy with my work, and set some time aside to work on the business itself. I need to do my invoicing, get my socials going, develop the website, and I haven’t even got business cards yet!
Thank you to everyone who’s supported me—it’s meant the world. I’m really grateful.
I’m feeling positive about the workload ahead. With hard work, dedication, and the support of my loved ones, I know I can build something great.
