9 Weeks into Business Ownership: Reflections and Insights

It's been nine weeks since I embarked on the journey of owning and running my own business, and it's been an interesting time, challenges, and rewards. Some of my expectations have been exceeded, while others have fallen short. Here's a look at my experiences so far.

Exceeding Expectations with New Customers

One of the most gratifying aspects of this journey has been the influx of new customers. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with each of them, understanding their business needs, and helping them achieve their goals. It's fascinating to see commonalities across different industries, yet there are always unique challenges that surprise and get me thinking.

The support and opportunities I've received have been brilliant, and I remain grateful. Yes, I’ve made mistakes along the way, but the key is that I've learned from them quickly. Some early customers have evolved into long-term partnerships, and I am excited about what we can achieve together. I am committed to showcasing their businesses in the best light possible.

Embracing Variety and New Skills

One of the unexpected wins of this venture has been the variety of tasks I get to tackle. Whether it's developing a full website, creating engaging content, or taking photographs, I haven't had a dull moment. For someone like me, who easily gets bored, this is an achievement.

I've also delved into the world of automation, helping businesses save time by automating mundane and time-consuming tasks. This allows their teams to focus on more complex and rewarding work, and it's been a satisfying addition to the services.

Challenges and Personal Growth

Working alone has its perks, but it also has its drawbacks. But I think I might be a pack animal occasionally, and I need to be able to take the mick in order to feed the soul. There is only so much the mrs and kids can take before I expect them to suffocate me in my sleep. Thankfully, I have clients like Smartmove Homes who have welcomed me into their space. Working with them to capture images, floorplans, and video tours for new properties has been rewarding, and they’ve kindly let me use their office for my editing work. It’s a nice balance between working alone and having that much-needed social interaction.

Positive Feedback and Future Goals

I am proud to have completed several websites for satisfied customers. Their positive feedback reinforces that I am on the right path, delivering the updated looks and improved functionalities they need. As I move forward, I aim to continue learning, growing, and improving. The journey of business ownership is full of highs and lows, but it’s the ability to adapt and learn that will pave the way for future success. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Your support makes all the difference, and I look forward to what the future holds.
